Hazardous Policy Update

January 5, 2006

Dear Valued Customer,

In keeping with the changes of the Steamship Line Rail Billing Requirements for 2006, please be advised that CaroTrans International Chicago will be moving up all cut-offs for hazardous LCL shipments.

Any hazardous booking with a sailing date after January 9, 2006, will receive a hazardous cut-off of 4:00 pm, one day prior to Carotrans' scheduled cut-off. No hazardous shipments booked the day of cut-off date will load.

As a reminder, for LCL Bookings, in order for us to load your hazardous, we will require completion of the following:
  Submission to Customer Service:
      A completed Hazardous Declaration
Your shipper's Letter of Instruction (SLI) , Master, or Commercial Invoice that contains the hazardous information reflected on the Declaration Receipt of Cargo
Cargo with marks and required labels that accurately correspond with the Hazardous Declaration
All documents and cargo must be in our possession by 4:00 pm one day prior to scheduled cut-off
Changes to Haz - Customer Service must receive prior to loading at origin:
Any revisions or amendments to the originally presented Hazardous Declaration
Any change to information specific to Hazardous information on the Master (SLI)

You will receive confirmation of receipt and verification of changes made, including an updated booking confirmation. Without such written notification and revised confirmation, we will consider your initial filing to be valid and binding.

Revisions to Masters not related to Hazardous should be sent directly to our documentation team.

Any penalties levied on mis-declared or undeclared hazardous cargo will be assessed to the account of the shipper.

Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated. We are constantly reviewing our internal processes and will continue to make changes in the near future that will expedite and streamline the procedures and communication.

Sincerely,

CaroTrans International, Inc.
